Melissa and Jason just celebrated their first anniversary a few days ago, so this blog post is long overdue.
We met these two at a wedding show more than a year before their wedding day, and when they booked us to photograph their wedding, they were a party of two. Little did we know, the world had other plans for them, and when we scheduled a final phone chat to go through their wedding day timeline, they surprised us by telling us they were not only expecting a baby boy, but that Melissa was in her third trimester. We have no idea how she pulled it off, but Melissa's dress only needed some minor alterations, and if you didn't know she was getting ready to have a baby in just a few months, you most likely wouldn't have been able to tell on their wedding day. She was absolutely stunning, and the two of them were glowing all day with happiness.
There were so many sweet moments throughout the day. Before the ceremony when the ladies were getting ready, Melissa's friends gathered around her for a prayer. But the moment that had us all in tears was when Melissa's parents prayed over her together. The pride and love they felt for their daughter was so evident. It was a beautiful moment.
Casa Rondena Winery is truly a venue like no other in Albuquerque. From the moment you drive up the long driveway that divides the vineyard, you feel like you're entering a completely different part of the world. The details in the architecture are incredible (with numerous parts of the building being brought from Spain). We can't think of a venue that has more elegant romance. There are multiple options for ceremony sites at this venue, and we've photographed weddings at all of them. Whether in the Barrel Room or on the lawn in front of the Great Hall, or across the pond, which is the ceremony site Melissa and Jason chose, each option is stunning.
And what better place for Bride and Groom portraits could there be? With so many option to work with, we never get tired of photographing weddings here.
And then the party began. As you'll see from these sample images, Casa Rondena is just as breathtaking at night as it is in the daytime. String lights, music playing, surrounded by beautiful buildings and vineyards? It doesn't get much better than that. Melissa shared a beautiful first dance with her new husband, and the sweetest dance with her father. And they had a cake that was almost too perfect to cut. But it was cut, and enjoyed by all.
As the moon rose higher in the sky, friends and family danced the night away to celebrate the new Mr. and Mrs. Divis. And we might have danced a little too. We usually do.
Melissa and Jason - We hope your first year of marriage has been incredible. We know it's been a whirlwind year as you welcomed baby Logan into the world (who's not such a baby anymore) and we couldn't be happier for all of you.
All our best,
~Matt and Amy
