Happy New Year, everyone!
To start off 2017, we're catching up on some long overdue blog posts. Now that the craziness of wedding season has slowed, we hope to share with you the rest of our 2016 weddings which we have yet to feature.
Today, we have Daniel and Anita. And we can honestly say this couple is one that we know will always be near and dear to our hearts. Of course, we tend to connect with all of our couples (which is one of the reasons we love what we do), but with these two it was instantaneous. The love they have for each other is infectious. And they really know how to have fun. From the moment we met for their engagement session, we knew we were in for an adventure.
And almost a year later, their wedding day arrived. It was such an amazing day, and was one of the largest weddings we have photographed, with close to 300 friends and family traveling from near and far (many from Honduras) to witness their union.
We can honestly say this wedding "takes the cake" in having so many personal and love-filled details. The effort Anita put into planning their day was inspiring. From her decor, which was all handmade and we were later shocked and impressed to find that the huge number of paper flowers used throughout her decor were actually made from... white paper towels, to her bouquet, which was created by taking dried floral pieces from all the bouquets Daniel had given her over the years, it was clear that love was put into every decision.
At the reception, a huge map marked the various locations friends and families had traveled from to attend their event, and large rows of tables were filled with desserts. But this dessert bar was like none we'd ever seen. It was labeled "Our Family Treets" and each item was provided by a different friend or family member. Signs with each dessert item told how each person was related to or came to know the couple, and recipe books were available so guests could take home all of the amazing recipes shared.
Add a Mariachi Band during cocktail hour, another amazing live band during the reception, incredible New Mexico cuisine, and one of the longest and fun-filled "La Marcha" dances that we've experienced at a wedding, and you have yourselves one amazing and unforgettable event. Anita and Daniel (and their friends and families) made us feel like we were guests, and we may have even stayed a while after our photography time was done.
Here are some of our favorites from this incredible evening.
A huge congrats to this amazing couple.
Daniel and Anita, there are no words to express how much we loved being a part of your day. Thank you for placing your trust in us. We couldn't be happier for you both, and we're honored to now call you friends.
May 2017 bring you all great things. You are certainly deserving of that.
Our best,
Matt and Amy
