Most of our couples prefer to have their engagement sessions in Spring or Fall, but we think there's beauty to be found year-round, especially here in the Albuquerque area. So we were thrilled when Billy and Rachel decided to have a winter engagement session with us in one of our favorite spots, the bosque.
Most New Mexicans have a soft spot for the beautiful Sandia mountains, and to many, especially those who grew up in the Albuquerque area, the Sandias symbolize home. If you're driving east on the 40, you know you're getting close to Albuquerque when you spot those mountains. Locals know the Sandias are named as they are because they turn pink/red when the sun is setting and casts color on the mountains. So, the name Sandia was perfect since it means "watermelon" in Spanish. And the Cottonwoods that grow along the Rio Grande produce "New Mexican Snow" when the wind blows the cotton off the branches in the Spring. In Summers, the trees are full and green, and in fall, the leaves turn beautiful yellows, then brown. In winter, of course, the leaves have fallen, but we think that brings a beauty of it's own.
Which brings us to Rachel and Billy and their bosque engagement session. We love this location at all times of the year, but we think you'll agree that in winter, there's just a little bit of added drama and romance to this spot.
