Hello friends!
Today's blog features Lilly and Greg, who had a March Wedding at the Balloon Fiesta Park's Fiesta on the Green venue.
We will always remember hearing from Lilly about photographing her wedding, because when she reached out to us via Facebook, we were watching the Pixar Pals Parade at Disneyland's California Adventure Park. And to be completely honest, we may have also been eating the delicious chocolate-covered ice cream goodness otherwise known as a Mickey Bar. What can we say, we are Disney lovers and HUGE kids at heart.
But...back to Lilly and Greg.
Lilly was such a stunning bride. And what was immediately apparent when we arrived to begin taking getting ready photos was the strong bonds that existed throughout this group of friends and family.
One of our favorite parts of this day was the "first look" Lilly had with her bridal party. We've had "first looks" with couples, and with Brides and their parents, but having one between a Bride and her girls was a first. It was a wonderful, sweet few moments everyone shared before traveling to the ceremony location.
Stormy weather moved their ceremony indoors unexpectedly, but nothing could take away the joy and love that was apparent throughout their day. When we had a break in the rain, we moved outdoors to get some quick photos and took advantage of the dramatic skies.
The details incorporated into Lilly and Greg's wedding were perfect, with a theme of yellow and royal blue and touches of Star Wars. We couldn't help but notice the "Loved Ones" branded Coke cans, and just had to use one for a dramatic ring shot that summed up what their wedding day was all about.
Lilly designed and created these amazing paper floral pieces herself Aren't they beautiful?
The reception that followed was just as we expected it to be. When you meet Lilly and Greg, you can't help but see how full of love, life and FUN they are. And this came across throughout their wedding day. One of our favorite photos of the day is the one shown below of Lilly and her Grandma (who is also her best friend). You'll understand why in just a moment.
Want to know a secret? We cry at least once during every wedding. And at Lilly and Greg's wedding, it happened during the dances. Greg's mom Laura is such a sweetheart. And you could see how proud she was of her son when they were dancing. And Lilly did something that was a first for us. She danced with her Grandma. The song she chose, the music and the lyrics...it was an experience that is hard to describe. It brought us to the big tears. Not the ones you can be discrete about. It made it hard to keep taking photos, but we did. By the end of their dance, there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
It's moments like this that remind us what an honor it is to be present during such personal and powerful moments in people's lives. We wouldn't trade it for the world.
And there you have it. Some of our favorite moments of Lilly and Greg's wedding day. Well, except for one. Which we saved for last.
It's not everyday that you get the chance to catch a group of friends when they spontaneously break into the infamous "John Bender" pose. If you aren't a fan of "The Breakfast Club", you won't get it. But we did. Which is just one of the many reasons we knew Lilly and Greg were our kind of people. We're so glad they chose us to photograph their day.
